EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!
How do you use Beeswax Food Wraps?
Use the warmth of your hands to slightly soften the wraps as you place it around a piece of food or over bowl of leftovers, as it cools, like magic, it will create a perfect seal.
What food can you wrap?
You can wrap cheese, veggies, bread, fruit, fresh herbs, baked goods or sandwiches. You could also try using it as a slip-proof mat under your cutting board, or roll pastry or dough on them.
If you're feeling crafty, you can fold them into little envelopes as a fun little snack bags with the kids! Our wraps are not recommended wrapping raw meat.
How long do they last?
Our wraps last up to a year with proper care and regular usage. You'll know your wrap has reached the end of its useful life when it has worn thin, appears extremely cracked/crumbly and loses its stick. You may notice your wraps form creases over time, this is completely normal, some colours of fabric show creasing more than others. So long as your wrap is still sticking, then it is still working!
You can easily refresh your wraps a couple of times before you compost them, simply line an oven tray with baking paper and pop your wrap in the oven for a minute or two then use a basting brush to evenly spread out the wax and hang up to dry. This only takes a couple of minutes.
You will know when refreshing your wraps is just not cutting it anymore, then you can, with complete confidence, place your cut up wrap into the compost and trust that all ingredients are safe for the earth.
Because the wraps contain tree resin, another option is to cut up the wrap into small pieces and use it as an effective fire starter.
How do you clean them?
Our wraps are naturally antibacterial so you only need to wash your wraps in cold water with an earth friendly dish soap. (Avoid heat, such as hot water and microwaves) Air dry over your dish rack, fold and store in a drawer or in a cute display container on your bench. Some of our Hong Kong customers have said they keep theirs in the fridge in the hot and humid summer months.
